———————————————————————

Warm greetings fellow JCI members!

FY 2001 marked a milestone in the national organization as we sent the first JCI Filipino recipient of “Young Leaders’ Program” (YLP) in Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo Japan. The opportunity of earning a degree of Master in Business Administration, major in International Corporate Strategy, on full scholarship, is indeed a privilege worth aspiring for.

YLP is scholarship program sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho). The primary objectives of the Young Leaders’ Program are as follows:
To foster the development of future national leaders in Asian and other countries
To create comprehensive networks of government and business leaders in the international community
To contribute to the establishment of friendly relations among Asian and other countries, including Japan
Applicants from 14 countries are vying for the coveted 15 scholarships given for a year. To date, JCI Philippines have the following roster of YLPers:

2002 JCI Sen Lavi Peñaverde (JCI Perlas Pasay)
2003 JCI Mem JG Puzon (JCI San Juan Pinaglabanan)
JCI Mem Rommel Dumlao (JCI Surigao Nickel)
2005 JCI Mem Ritche Nacpil (JCI Angeles Culiat)
2006 JCI Sen Marie Murillo (JCI Perlas Pasay)
JCI Mem Raymar Padilla (JCI San Juan Pinaglabanan)
This September, JCI Mem Joel Tabing (JCI Manila) will come home as the 7th recipient of YLP as he successfully graduated from the program.

On its 6th year the Japanese Embassy is again generously extending its invitation to JCI Philippines leaders to become part of YLP 2009. Application forms are available at the JCIP Headquarters.

Come and be a part of this wonderful experience! Let us show to the global community what JCI Philippines leadership is all about. Feel free to get in touch with me thru 0917-5350434 for any concerns or clarifications.

Thank you,

Relative to this, as part of our preparations for the Natcon awards, your NRRC has decided to make some adjustments on the deadlines necessary in the conduct for the Natcon Awards. Kindly take note then on the following dates for your information.

2) The start on the uploading of Natcon Bids will be on September 7, 2007 so as to give more time for the LOMs to upload their bids.

3) The deadline for the Uploading/Editing remains the same on its date September 24, 2007 at 12:00 .midnight.

4) The Natcon Judging will start on September 26 and ends on October 2, 2007.

Re : Re: Jake Gonzales Memorial Award
———————————————————————-

Dear Fellow JCI Members;

Warmest greetings from your NRRC!

This award was created in honor of our 3rd National President Joaquin “Jake” V. Gonzales who gave his life in the service to JCI. As a brief background, Joaquin “Jake” V. Gonzales joined the Manila Jaycees on January 3, 1948 and awarded as one of the Manila Jaycees outstanding Jaycees on same year. He was nominated candidate for National Presidency and was unanimously elected as the 3rd National President (1951-52) during 3rd JCP National Convention in Cebu City. Because of his outstanding achievements, he was only the National President to be elected for an unprecedented second term. Unfortunately his career was cut short in a fatal plane crash killing him, and 12 other on board, when was en route from the 4th National Convention in Baguio City to Bacolod on March 30, 1952. For having been died in the cause of Jayceeism, he was posthumously awarded JCI Sen. No. 1 by the Junior Chamber International in 1952. He was remembered as the first Filipino Jaycee National President to die in the service of Jayceeism.

It was in 1974 when said award category was integrated to our awards system since its establishment in 1955 by the NRRC as a way of honoring the service of those JCI members who passed away and is posthumously awarded to an individual upon recommendation of the JCIP National President.

This category is a no bid award and the recipients are members who died in the service to the JCI organization. Since the award is posthumous, and is presented to the Chief Delegate of the chapter of which the recipient is affiliated. Said award will be presented ONLY at the JCI Philippines National Convention and JCI World Congress. The Judging will be based upon the recommendation of the JCIP National President.

In this regard, we are calling the attention of all good standing LOMs to inform the NRRC thru the JCIP Secretariat, if you have regular member/s (Past or Present) who has been active and died this year to be nominated as one of those to be bestowed of said award.

Again thank you for your continued support of this year’s NRRC.

Best regards,
