——————————————————————————————————

Greetings Fellow JCI Members!

As we all know, disaster or calamities has always been part of the challenges in our human existence. Last May 12, 2008 a powerful earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck the Sichuan province in southwestern China and thousands of its residents perished and buried under rubbles.

Current news in China that a lot of struggling Chinese friends of ours find it hard in helping tens of thousands of injured and homeless people. The death toll is estimated to be more than 50,000 and rising, in which most of its survivors were heading to Mianyang by foot , a nearby city, and abandoning their ruined houses.

Being a service oriented leadership training organization committed for community service in practice to the tenets of the JCI Creed, it is just fitting for us to respond to the JCI’ call for relief operations thru its “Operation Hope” program. All JCI members all over the world particularly those in Asia are encouraged to organized relief project to provide assistance to the victims especially those members close to the affected area to help alleviate the sufferings of victims.

For those who wish to give a donation for earthquake victims through JCI Operation Hope, please go to http://www.jci.cc/about/en/jcioperationhope, and earmark your donation by writing “China Earthquake.” Relief goods are accepted but donations in cash is preferable and can be course thru the JCIP Secretariat which in turn over it over to ERIC TANG, NOM President of JCI Hong Kong, China who requested that contributions for earthquake victims can be channeled to their NOM and they will hand it over to JCI Operation Hope later on.

Your positive response on this matter will be highly appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless.

Search for the World’s Most Creative Young Entrepreneur Begins!

The search for the world’s most creative young entrepreneur has begun. As nominations for the JCI 2008 Creative Young Entrepreneur Award are open, members of JCI-Philippines are hoping to prove that Filipino young entrepreneurs are amongst the world most creative.

“The competition is open to all young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40″, explained JCI-Philippines National President Rip Lesaca. “The nomination process is simple, and anyone can nominate an entrepreneur, and young entrepreneurs are encouraged to nominate themselves.”

JCI-Philippines is a part of JCI (Junior Chamber International), a worldwide federat ion of young leaders and entrepreneurs with over a half-million members, JCI Senators and senior members in more than 100 countries and territories around the globe. JCI launched the Creative Young Entrepreneur Award Competition in 2006.

“We’re looking for young business people who used their imagination and creativity to start a business, or evolve a business”, said CYEA National Chair Jeff Sahagun. “That could be any number of things, including using creativity in product development, service development, or even in the way they approach the market. The key is how they have tackled something in a fresh way, using their talent, imagination and ingenuity to drive their business enterprise”.

NP Rip explained that nomination process involves the simple comple tion of an online nomination form. Nominations will be entered into an international open pool competition. From these entries a panel of experts drawn from within the economic and entrepreneurial community will select 3 finalists to move onward to the International 2008 JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award Competition.

“I know from our membership and contacts in the business community, that the Philippines is filled with creative and talented young business owners and entrepreneurs”, NP Rip continued. “We’re excited about these people entering the competition, and their potential to be the international winner”.

Three (3) International finalists for the JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award will be selected. These finalists will receive a free rou nd-trip airline ticket to New Delhi, India, to attend the November 2008 JCI World Congress. The prize package also includes a five-day hotel stay at the congress headquarters hotel in New Delhi and one free JCI World Congress registration. One finalist will be selected by a panel of international judges as the 2008 JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur – the top creative young entrepreneur in the world. This year’s search will be again sponsored by Robinsons Land Corporation together with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Greetings Fellow JCI Members!

Let me take this opportunity to extend my congratulations to all the LOMs for their wholehearted support in implementing this year’s Batang Leader Awards (YLEA). Your effort is very laudable in the successful awarding of certificates and medals to deserving young achievers in the elementary and high school graduating students on this year’s commencement exercises nationwide.

As an organization that advocates positive change through leadership training, shows that our endeavors deserves commendations in keeping with our solid tradition of recognizing achievements of young people to inspire them for greater achievements. There’s no doubt that this will surely contribute in helping our community to become more progressive nation in the future.

As we move towards implementing other activities this year, may we request your kind cooperation in submitting in advance your Batang Leader Awards (YLEA) completion reports as we urgently need to collate them for presentation with the main sponsor Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero to formally seal the Memorandum of Agreement.

Needless to mention by submitting said duly accomplished completion reports, your LOM can earn five (5) points on or before May 31, 2008; and two (2) points if submitted after May 31, 2008 in the JCIPEA program.

Your prompt and positive response is highly appreciated.

SUBJECT : Guidelines for JCI Senatorship Award and Processing Fee
—————————————————————————————————— –
Greetings form your National Secretariat!

A JCI Senatorship is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a member or past member of our organization, and confers “lifetime membership” in Junior chamber International (JCI). It is a unique way to pay tribute to an individual for his/her dedication and outstanding service on a local, national or international level. However, we noticed that the proper protocol in applying said award is not being followed. In our communications with JCI, we have learned that there are those who filed their application form directly to them without passing our National Secretariat or the National Senate Affairs Chairman for appropriate screening and validation.

In this light, may we therefore give you the qualifications on how to become a JCI Senator as required.. This prestigious award is conferred to exemplar-JCI Members who have complied with the following basic minimum requirements as stipulated in our Policy Manual (Pol. 3.6 Sec. 4). as follows;
The nominee must have been a member in good standing for at least three (3) consecutive years. In case of a nominee who is a past member, he need not be a member in good standing at the time he is being considered for the award;
He must have attended an International Junior Chamber Conference (Multi-Nation or World Congress) and two (2) National Conventions. However, the JCI Senate Group, in very meritorious cases, may dispense with the requirements of attending an International Junior Chamber Conference if, in their findings, the nominee does not have the financial means. In this event, the nominee should have attended at least five (5) Regular National Conventions;
He must have either been a National Chairman, Director of the chapter, or Chairman of a successful and outstanding project that advanced th e purposes of the movement;
The nomination form shall be filled up by the nominator who must be a JCI Senator, or chapter officer or director and certified by the Chapter Secretary;
He must have been a recipient of a Chapter or Annual Presidential Award or any JCP or JCI Award; and,
All the above must be complied with as minimum requirements before any member of the chapter may be considered for Senatorship as recognition for very outstanding services to the Junior Chamber movement.
Basing on the above mentioned guidelines, the National Screening Committee headed by the Imm. Past National President shall consider the following pre-screening qualifications;
That the awardee / applicant for senatorship must be from a LOM/chapter in good standing of the JCI Philippines
Must be an active member in good standing for three (3) consecutive years.
Must be an elected LOM Board of Director / President.
A LOM Board Resolution endorsing his award/application for senatorship stating his achievements and accomplishments in the chapter or other valuable contributions to the LOM program and activities and the application should be duly signed by the concerned NVP/NEVP.
At least attended 5 Area Conferences and/or National Conventions or three (3) JCI ASPAC or World Congresses.
Having complied with the above-mentioned minimum requirements the nominee shall further be graded on his overall performance according to the point system as stipulated in our JCIP Policy Manual and JCI e.g.
A copy of th e said application should be forwarded to the Office of the NSG for final verification after which the National President signs the same before it will be forwarded to JCI copy furnished Philippine Jaycee Senate Office. Kindly take note per arrangement with JCI they will not entertain applications filed directly to them.
In view thereof upon validation of the application, a mailing / processing fee in the amount of P400.00 payable to JCIP shall be charged and none payment of said fee means the application will not also be entertained. This is aside the Senatorship fee in the amount of US $300 payable to JCI thru credit card or demand draft by the applicant. The National Secretariat shall then be responsible in distributing the JCI Senatorship to the LOM or the JCI Senator concerned to be handed by a National Officer, in an appropriate occasion.

For your appropriate information and guidance!

Thank You and God Bless You All!

Re: Twinning Program

War mest greetings fellow JCI!

JCI Twinning Program is a voluntary and reciprocal agreement between national organizations or local organizations in different countries, regions or cities. The motivation to twin originates from the members in two national or local organizations who wish to establish a mutual understanding and friendship.

The objective is to exchange personal visits, ideas, projects and culture. With modern communication and transportation systems, distance is no longer an obstacle. Organizations can use twinning to learn more about the culture, problems, and successes of others. This exchange generates positive change through better understanding and cooperation. Joint projects and exchanges magnify the benefits of fellowship through twinning.

As your twinning chairman, may I take this opportunity to encourage all LOM Presidents and the LOM Directors for National/International to join hands in this endeavor as we support our 2008 NOM’s theme of “Be Better”. May we all become better members and better LOMs as we take a step further to elevate the standard of this international program and maximize the benefits offered.

It is advised that the following guidelines should be observed prior to twinning.

1. Each organization or their respective Directors for International should appoint one person to oversee and be responsible for the twinning project.
2. Part of their duties would be to ensure the agreement is continued from year to year and that activities are carried out to make certain there is a sustained mutual benefit.
3. At the beginning of negotiations, both organizations must agree upon a pre-twinning assessment period, this will give both organizations an opportunity to evaluate the compatibility of the agreement. Also during that period, it will be possible to resolve any problems regarding incompatibility without embarrassment, and both organizations can either proceed to active twinning or withdraw.
4. The duration of the pre-assessment period will be determined by the LOMs constitution and by-laws (policies). During this period, a friendship pact may be undertaken by the involved LOMs.
5. A list of potential organizations to twin with can also be found on the JCI website
(www.jci.cc/twinning).
6. To give meaning to their twinning, the 2 participating LOMs or group of LOMs in cases of multi-twinning should conduct at least one (1) joint project for the year with proper documentation.
7. The Official Twinning Ceremony for this calendar year to formalize earlier agreements signed during the different LOM’s respective inductions will take place during the 2008 National Convention in Dakak. In cases of international twinning, the ASPAC or the World Congress would be a better venue. (Note that only LOMs that had complied with the requirements can participate.)
8. The officer-in-charge should advise the national organization or both national organizations in case of international twinning of the successful completion of the twinning agreement.

In line with this, a special solemn Twinning Ceremony during the 2008 National Convention will be prepared for interested LOMs that wish to formalize their twinning. Please submit list to undersigned on or before September 1, 2008.

May I enjoin everybody to work as a team for the success of this goal.

May this be the seed that will bear better future twinning prog rams in our NOM.

Yours in jayceeism,

The graduation season catches most of us in a nostalgic mood while we reminisce our own graduation days. These months leave us awe-inspired as we observe our younger brethren experience an important rite of passage in their personal and eventually their professional lives.

As advocates of positive change through leadership training, we are once again amidst young achievers. Youthful mavericks we all hope would make a difference toward nation building. In keeping with our solid tradition of recognizing the contributions of future leaders, we urge you to implement the YLEA awards with solemn pride and dignified demeanor.

In light of our commitment to excellence, we would like to remind you of the following important pre-requisites in the distribution of the YLEA awards (Ang Batang Lider Award):
LOMs in good standing in 2007 and 2008 are qualified to give out YLEA certificates and medals to deserving students in their community.
We urge you to communicate and coordinate with respective school authorities (i.e. principals, school heads) prior to distribution of YLEA certificates and medals. Thru which there will be only one recipie nt and definitely an outstanding student based on academics and extra curricular activities. Our observance of proper protocol will leave a positive impression on the academe and their direct community.
As stated in previous circulars (NSG Circular #10), the submission of reports of YLEA recipients are necessary to enable us to keep track of the validity of the project and its corresponding JPEA points.
For the information of everyone, the Certificates and Medals are already been distributed to some Loms last week. The JCIP secretariat and yours truly are always available to answer further queries regarding the YLEA awards.

May peace be with you all in this season of contemplation and spiritual reflection.

Happy easter!

Greetings Fellow JCI Members!,

We are pleased to inform you that a two full page supplement featuring the two top guns of our organization our very own NP Rip and NSEVP Tonkie has been featured in the Sunday Times newspaper February 3, 2008 issue (Hereby attach to this circular).

Public relations is one of the top priorities lined up in this years administration which aims in increasing the marketing perks of the JCI organization by taking full advantage of its media mileage as the main tool in selling the JCI movement.

Needless to say, this will b e a good source for information dissemination through TV, press releases and radio plugs for the announcement of our activities which will definitely increase awareness on the existence of the JCI Philippines. In doing such media blitz, it is imperative for us to give more emphasis in championing the JCI brand as this will help in the promotion of our membership recruitment program. In addition and perhaps more important is to catch the eye of prospective sponsors or corporate partners for our projects.

In this regard, we are encouraging all LOMs to please do the same by having their own respective press releases at least once a week if possible, especially for important NOM/LOMs activities by utilizing whatever resources we have. In case you have JCI members connected with the media you can tap them to maximize cost effective measures for your own publicity. It is highly expected that with your active leadership in supporting this year’s presidential thrust of promoting “Active Citizenship” we can make things better on all this years undertakings and move on to be always BE BETTER.

FROM : JCI Sen. RICHARD ALVIN NALUPTA
THE NATIONAL PROJECT CHAIRMAN
SUBJECT : Youth Leadership Excellence Award (YLEA): ANG BATANG LIDER AWARD

Dear Fellow Jaycees:

We are glad to inform you that this year, 2008 until the year 2010, the Youth leadership Excellence Award (YLEA): Ang Batang Lider Award will be sponsored by Senator Francis CHIZ Escudero. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has already been signed between Senator Escudero and 2008 National President Albert Raphael Angelo Lesaca to secure the sponsorship till 2010.

YLEA: Ang Batang Lider Award is one of our organization flagship projects. It aims to recognize the leadership qualities and academic achievement of elementary and high school deserving graduating students both in public and private schools nationwide. This year, we want to maximize the distribution of certificates and medals to accommodate and ensure the massive giving of awards to deserving students all over the country.

In as much as we want to ensure effective awards distribution, we are encouraging all LOMs to submit the names and number of school recipients by filling up the attached Pre-Evaluation Form. Memo-Cir. 8 s. 2008

DATE: January 3, 2008
TO : All LOM Presidents/National Board Members and JCI Members
FROM : The National Secretary General
SUBJECT : Our First International Training Fellow from JCI Philippines

Fellow JCI Members,

The year 2008 represents a milestone in our national organization’ s history, not only because we are celebrating our 60th founding anniversary, but also we have produced — for the first time in the history of our NOM — the first-ever INTERNATIONAL TRAINING FELLOW (ITF) from JCI Philippines in the person of JCI Senator REGINALD “Reggie” T. YU of JCI Manila!

For many JCI members unfamiliar with this recognition, ITF is the highest honor (the ultimate distinction) a TRAINER can ever receive from JCI University. An ITF becomes part of JCI University’s design team tasked in the formulation, design and development of future courses of Junior Chamber International. In short, ITF is the most coveted recognition any JCI trainer could ever hope for.

Since the JCI certification system was introduced in 1990, many of our outstanding Filipino trainers have attempted, but were unsuccessful, in being conferred with this rank. Thus, while we had so many JCI Prime graduates, only a handful ever get to become Local, National and — much less — internationally- certified trainers. Therefore, a Filipino reaching the highest rank of ITF represents a rare honor, not only for his own local organization, but for our national organization.

However, it is not surprising for many of us that a person with the caliber of JCI Sen. Reggie Yu was able to achieve this distinction. As one can recall, JCI Sen. Reggie Yu of JCI Manila only took his JCI Prime course in October 2004 during the Boracay National Convention. He received his certification in an unprecedented record time, first as Certified Local Trainer just over a month since he graduated JCI Prime, and as Certified National Trainer after graduating from JCI Excel Training Design Course in November 2005 at Clarkfield Pampanga. Reggie undertook his Prime and Excel Course under the tutelage of JCI Sen. Teresa M. Alberto, ITF No. 57 as Head Trainer.

Despite his busy portfolio as Chairman of the National Training Commission in 2005 and Chairman of the National Records and Recognition Commission in 2006, Reggie was able to make great strides by being the first JCI Certified National Graduate in the Asia-Pacific in April of 2007. Later, he was conferred with the rank of International Graduate in August together with Mennen Aracid of JCI Kagayhaan Gold. Then, last December 30, 2007, after completing another 25 hours of international training and submission of his own training courses to JCI University, Reggie has been conferred as the title International Training Fellow no. 101 has by JCI University.

What is remarkable in his JCI career is not so much that he was able to pioneer milestone after milestone (i.e. produced the first full-color LEADER magazine and won for our the “Best NOM Publication of the World” for the first time in JCI Philippines’ history; published the first-ever coffee-table book on JCI Manila and JCI Philippines; produced the first-ever News Publication in CD-ROM format as National Secretary-General; introduced signature courses as JCI ACHIEVE and conferred the most number of JCI certified trainers during his stint as NTC Chairman; trail-blazed the first on-line eawards system as NRRC Chairman),
but he was able to zoom up to becoming the first ITF in just a short period of TWO-AND-A-HALF YEARS since taking his JCI Prime.

It is no wonder that JCI Sen. Reggie Yu will be remembered not only for his achievements, but also for his distinction as being the most-awarded JCI member of our generation. He was conferred the “Most Outstanding JCI Member of the Metro Area, Philippines, Asia-Pacific and World” Awards from 2001 to 2004. Later, he was awarded a “grand slam” in the Metro Area, National, Asia-Pacific and World Congresses as he “Most Outstanding JCI Senator” in 2005.

JCI University shall be bringing a special wooden plaque in honor of his being an ITF to our NOM headquarters soon. On behalf of JCI Philippines, we salute a great and honorable JCI member in the person of JCI Senator REGINALD T. YU! Let us all congratulate him for his latest outstanding feat!

Sincerely yours,

JCI Sen. FULBERT C. WOO
