———————————————————————————————————————-

Greetings from JCI Philippines Secretariat!

The 27th simultaneous Area Conferences has been recently concluded and we are glad that all the five of them went out successful and very well-attended. Certainly, the delegates have enjoyed and appreciated the warm accommodations and excellent hosting. To all the host LOMs, Conference Chairmen and Directors, you deserve a standing ovation!!!

Yours truly, having been appointed by our National President during the height of the Areacon events to serve the remaining term as NSG, let me render a brief report on what transpired during the simultaneous Conferences:

AREA I - Area I Conference - “Feel the Difference - Be Better” was the theme for Area One Conference. Held at the grandiose Century Resort Hotel in Angeles City, hosted by the JCI Angeles Culiat, the Conference was chaired by NEVP Glenn G. So with the able help of Conference Director Neki Liwanag and host LOM Pres. Jean Mandap and attended by almost 200 delegates from Ilocandia, Northern Luzon, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon regions. The said affair will be remembered for its outstanding seminars, sports activities, fellowship and colorful awarding ceremonies.

AREA 2 -Metro Area Conference - “Be Better” was also adapted as this year’s theme for Area Two Conference. Hosted by JCI Pateros Balut, it was held at the Club Manila East Resort in Taytay, Rizal. The hotly contested Area elections for the national officers sparked the event. Around 200 delegates Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan Region enjoyed the fellowship, fun games and sports activities. The seminars were equally fun and interesting. Thanks to the dynamic leadership of its Chairman, NEVP Joel Sarmiento with the full support of the conference organizing committee led by Conference Director Larry Alcantara and LOM President Marvin Labrador.

AREA 3 - “Southern Luzon Area Conference (SOLAC) 2007” - “Where Leaders Dare” was theme for the Area Three Conference. The Opening Ceremonies were held at the Pepperland Hotel, the opening and closing Plenary and seminars were held at the Pacific Mall Convention Hall and the awarding and closing ceremonies were held at the People’s Hall, Provincial Government building of Albay. Hosted by the JCI Legaspi with the support JCI Legaspi Dawani ladies, the conference proved to be successful as highlighted by the yearly Search for “Ms. SOLAC”. The organizers, Conference Director Martin Reynoso, LOM Pres. Luis Bello and NEVP Anthony Astillero made sure that all the activities are not to be missed. Around 300 delegates who attended were given the chance to visit the Cagsawa ruins and the majestic Mayon Volcano.

AREA 4 - Visayas Area Conference (VISARCON) - “Be Better” was the theme for the Area Four Conference. Held at the Rolet Hotel, in Catbalogan, Samar hosted by JCI Catbalogan Balud. It was led by its Conference Chairman Manuel Van Torrevillas with Conference Director Errol Espina and host LOM President Troy Ian Baclay, whipped up a exciting concoction of seminars, parties, and events that made the conference exciting!

AREA 5 - Mindanao Area Conference - “Be Better Mindanao” was the theme for the Area Five Conference. Held at the Grand Regal Hotel and Casino. It was attended by around 250 delegates who enjoyed the hospitality of the host LOM, the five year old JCI Central Davao led by Conference Chairman Director James Ng and LOM President Ted Garcia, with NEVP Javi Paras as the Conference Chairman. Delegates enjoyed a festive opening ceremonies at the Lanang Beach Resort with sumptuous food and beverage. The rest of the activities like plenary, awarding seminars were held at the Grand Regal Hotel. The grand fellowship night was held at the Club Octane, Regency Inn where the delegates were entertained with party performers.

Once again, the JCIP Secretariat, in behalf of the 2007 National Board, sincerely congratulates those personalities responsible in making all the events possible.

Likewise, much applause is given to the members and LOMs who placed their bids and bagged the Areacon Awards. The Natcon Awards are still at stake, therefore, we encourage you to bring your bids to that higher spot.

With the conclusion of the Area Conferences comes the outcome of the JCIP national elections. To those elected, our congratulations! By the vote of the members comes their expectation that as their forthcoming national officers they can rest assured that the future of this organization is safe and sound. This is your chance not to disappoint them by carrying out the duties and responsibilities attached to your respective positions with much enthusiasm and assiduousness. To those who did not make it to the race, there will still be another chance, a chance to prove that you are also worth their trust maybe by helping the organization though you’re not holding any position.

Our active involvement in this year’s activities only showed our unequivocal support to this year’s administration. As we approach the finish line, let us continue showing the world, we have become BETTER every way, everyday!

Looking forward to seeing you in the Cebu Natcon!

At your service,

JCI Mem. EDITH CASTILLO-NAPALAN
National Secretary General/General Legal Counsel
